A joint team of Croatian and Czech police officers solves both minor and major crimes on the Adriatic Riviera and gradually unravels the mystery of the death of the partner of one of them.

A budding playwright pens a play about heartbreak surrounding a former girlfriend leaving him for a woman. When auditions commence for the lead roles, fate intervenes as the playwright lands the male lead, and his ex emerges as the perfect fit for the female lead.

Waves is inspired by a short novel of Robert Louis Stevenson, The Ebb-tide, written and published in 1894, the year of his untimely death (Stevenson was 44 years old).
